The history of the Dirty Martini starts in New York in the early 90’s where bartender John O’Conner founded the salty cousin to the Classic – Dry Martini. A Classic Martini contains gin and dry vermouth, it has a very clean, dry, and aromatic taste.

John O’Conner first created the Dirty Martini by muddling olives into the drink, and later by adding a splash of olive brine, since becoming an international favorite.

Be sure to buy good quality olives in brine for best flavor.

50 ml  Premium gin or vodka

10 ml Dry vermouth

15 ml olive brine (or to taste)

Garnish: 3 olives on a toothpick

In a mixing glass, combine vodka, dry vermouth, brine and olives. Pour into a glass over ice. Mix for 20 seconds and strain into a chilled martini glass.
